Laetare Sunday

The fourth Sunday of Lent is Laetare Sunday. Just like we have Gaudete Sunday as a ‘breather’ during the time of Advent, this is a Sunday of Joy during our 40 days of fasting in Lent.
The name Laetare comes from Isaiah 66:10-11 and Latin for Hebrew ‘samah’. The first line is: “Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her.”
