Why Titipounamu?

Titipounamu is the smallest bird in Aotearoa New Zealand.
It is so small that it is easily overlooked and its voice is so high pitched that some people are struggling to hear it. Sometimes these little birds are put into the category of wrens but then, again, they are said to be absolutely unique when it comes to any other living bird in the world.
Ancient European fables are dedicated to the little wrens. The tiny wren that outwits all other birds and managed to become king of the birds. The Brothers Grimm wrote down one version of this story on the wren, the “Zaunkoenig”.
