The beginning of August has already seen so many feast days that some people ask “which one do you celebrate?” After St John Vianney Day on 4 August, we had on 8 August St Dominic’s Day, St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein) and St Mary of the Cross (Mary McKillop).
St Dominic OP was born on 8 August and until after Vatican II his feast day was celebrated on 4 August while it is today also celebrated on 3 August.
Sounds confusing but with St Dominic being the patron saint of astronomers, we might find the answer in the stars…
In the month of August there is another anniversary—we celebrate 2 years of Titipounamu Study & Joy. I am grateful to the presenters and facilitators and all the participants in my online courses who have been part of this journey.
We are dedicating the month of August to the women in the Church.
Recently, Prof Thomas O’Loughlin and Kieran Fenn fms have shared their knowledge in interviews on Women in the Time of Jesus and today and on St Mary Magdalene.
These interviews are available via my website and YouTube channel, and they are leading to our next online presentation which will be held on Monday, 22 August and Monday, 29 August, 7-8.30pm.
There is no charge and all are welcome. Donations are appreciated as Titipounamu Study & Joy is an independent initiative that doesn’t receive any funding.
Muffin Talk: Last week’s Muffin Talk was an interview an interview with Jill Shaw who is involved in an Interfaith project that is aiming at bringing people with a disability into conversation with faith leaders so obstacles can be identified and overcome.
